Background: Maetis joins up with Taurus and Djinn when Taurus attempts to save the life of Phelan, despite the fact that he lacked the ability to do so. To his companions, Maetis is something of a mystery. They know little of his past, and none of been particularly inclined to press him for information he does not wish to give. It is clear that Maetis has been travelling for some time now; close to eighty years, in fact. He is also uncomfortable if he gets too close to the elven territories, but neither fears nor loathes the idea. Maetis has recieved formal training in martial arts, literature, art, and medical and natural knowledge. He carries a staff, which is his weapon of choice. He will only kill as a last resort, and he is not particularly fond of violence or anyone who employs it on a regular basis, though he himself is quite capable of violence if the need should arise. He does not trouble himself to hide his identity as an elf, but since he spends most of his time in the human lands, he does not always choose to advertise the fact, and will wear the hood of his cloak up if he wishes to avoid attention.

Personality: Maetis is, for the most part, a quiet, serious individual. He keeps to himself a great deal, and has little tolerance for foolishness or callousness and is often rude, sarcastic, or disdainful of those who exhibit those traits. Despite this, he is kind and protective of those he does care for, rare though those individuals may be. Despite his dislike of most people, Maetis is fiercly protective of lives, and of all people as a whole if not as the collection of individuals that make them up. He can, at times, be playful amongst close friends or, ironically, people he finds irritating but has to tolerate. (Taurus falls into the first category, Badri into the latter.)
